Postdoc in Psychology, especially Environmental Psychology, Sustainable Consumption, and Innovative Logistics

The Department of Psychology is now looking for a postdoc within the framework of the Strategic Research Area Transport (SFO), which is an interdisciplinary collaboration between researchers at the University of Gothenburg and the Transport Area of Advance (AoA) at Chalmers University of Technology. SFO Transport’s goal is to contribute to knowledge about green, safe and efficient transport (both passenger and freight transport), and how to achieve an attractive society that takes responsibility for both people’s lives and well-being, and our nature. Psychology, and in particular environmental psychology, has been a subject that, together with other social science disciplines, gives SFO Transport a unique and important profile.
Duties
The postdoc is expected to take a leading role in planning, implementing and reporting a project that explores innovative logistics solutions for transporting consumers’ grocery shopping. The goal is to contribute to knowledge that benefits both sustainable consumption and green, safe and efficient transport. Contributions to other ongoing data collections and to analyses and reporting of already collected data in related studies may be included in the duties. The duties of the postdoc also include participating in both the research group DEEP (Decisionmaking, Environmental, Economic and Political psychology) at the Department of Pycology and in the interdisciplinary research network for transport research at the University of Gothenburg and Chalmers (SFO and AoA). Teaching and supervision may also be relevant, but no more than 20% of the working hours. The holder of the position is expected to perform the majority of the duties on site in Gothenburg.
Eligibility
A person is eligible for employment as postdoctoral research fellow if he or she has obtained a Swedish PhD i Psychology, or foreign equivalent, at the time of the decision of employment. Individuals who have obtained their PhD less than three years ago (counted from the last date of accepted applications) are prioritized for employments as a post-doctoral fellow. A person who has been previously employed at the University of Gothenburg as a post-doctoral fellow during more than one year cannot be employed again within the same or related fields at the university.
Assessment
When selecting qualified applicants, the applicant shall be selected who, after an overall assessment of skill as well as development potential, is deemed to have the best conditions to carry out the tasks described above. We are looking for a driven and curious researcher with a background in environmental psychology who has both some experience and a genuine interest in applying psychology in areas such as sustainable consumption, logistics and transport. Knowledge of both qualitative and quantitative research methods, as well as good knowledge of statistics and psychometrics, are meritorious. Very good oral and written proficiency in English is a requirement. Knowledge of Swedish is a merit. In addition, personal qualities such as planning skills, reliability, independence, ability to cooperate and communication skills will also be taken into account.
In the selection process, interviews, work samples and reference taking may be necessary. These elements will, where appropriate, also form the basis for the assessment.
